Studying Globally at Bard
Bard offers its students a number of opportunities to engage in international dialogue. Nearly 50% of Bard students participate in at least one global or international program during their time at Bard. Some spend a year, a term, or a summer studying abroad. Others spend time abroad participating in internships or working on community service projects. Students are attracted by the immense personal rewards of living in a different culture and improving their foreign language skills. Many students combine Bard programs, taking intensive language courses, studying abroad, participating in internships with leading international organizations, and performing community service overseas. These experiences are integral to their education and often serve as the focal point of their Bard academic experience. Moreover, they can enrich, perhaps even change, a student’s life.

Programs for Non-Bard Students
Many Bard programs are offered to non-Bard students as well. Bard and its partner institutions offer unique opportunities and experimental learning. Students are often attracted by the immense personal rewards of living in a different culture. These experiences are integral to their education and often serve as the focal point of their life.

Working, Volunteering, and Internships Abroad
Each year, nearly 100 Bard students engage in internships in the United States and abroad in areas related to global affairs. Many of these are conducted through, or supported by, the Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program, the Bard-Central European University Program, the International Human Rights Exchange, the Human Rights Project, and Office of Community Service and Social Action/Trustee Leader Scholar Program. In the past five years, Bard students have interned at 169 organizations.
